Young Thug has been cast in the new movie Throw It Back. According to a press release, he’ll star alongside Shahadi Wright Joseph, the young actress known for her role as Zora Wilson and Umbrae in Jordan Peele’s Us. Young Thug is also set to executive produce the Throw It Back soundtrack and release it via his own Young Stoner Life Records.
Throw It Back—directed by Shadae Lamar Smith and written by Rochée Jeffrey—is produced by Tiffany Haddish, Melanie Clark, Paul Feig, and Laura Fischer. Haddish will also play a supporting role in the movie, which is described as a musical dramedy. Throw It Back follows Wytrell, a high school senior who vies for a spot on a dance team assembled by “a controversial superstar Miami rapper,” presumably portrayed by Young Thug.
Young Thug and Young Stoner Life released Slime Language 2 in April. Thug’s last solo release was 2019’s So Much Fun.
