GLAMOUR Tries: We tested the Cloud Nine cordless straighteners for on-the-go styling and were pleasantly surprised

There’s no better pastime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there’s nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don’t *actually* work.

Enter GLAMOUR Tries: the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.

Yep, we’ve been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm – from BaByliss’ Hydro Fusion Air Styler (the rotating hot air brush of dreams) to CurrentBody’s Skin LED Precision and Fanola’s No Yellow Foam Conditioner. These are the products every influencer/gen-Z beauty slueth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet – but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.

Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won’t need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We’re getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and making sure you invest in products that genuinely work. Like what you see? You can shop all of the products seen on GLAMOUR tries in previous weeks down below. Race ya?

On GLAMOUR Tries this week, Beauty and Entertainment Assistant Sheilla Mamona tested Cloud Nine’s Cordless Iron Pro straighteners – the hair tool that’s trending courtesy of its ability to style your locks on the go.

“I have very curly and coily hair and I don’t usually straighten it but I thought I’d give these a go.” Sheilla says about the Cloud Nine Cordless Iron Pro straighteners, “I’m not expecting it to be silky straight but I just want it to be a little more defined so I can do a nice middle parting.”

The Cordless Iron Pro looks high-tech on first impressions. “They still look really simple to use with only two buttons. They come with this charging port which is quite nice to look at actually, and to turn it on all I do is press this button and then the light should stop flashing when it’s hot and ready.”

Sheilla coats her hair with heat protecting spray before beginning to use the straighteners. She uses the tool on the same bit of hair twice; “two strokes, not bad! One thing I love about this straightener is that the barrel is so thin.”

About half way through the Cordless Iron Pro runs out of battery and Sheilla has to recharge it. Finishing off by making sure every strand is straight, she switches the device off before giving her final thoughts. “This is so useful because the moment your hair gets frizzy you can just whack it out from your handbag. It has two heating settings but you wouldn’t need any more than that.”

“I would say that the battery doesn’t last all that long though, so I don’t know if this is something that I would want to use every day just because my hair will take probably up to an hour to straighten. It retails at £349 which is quite a lot of money, but it did straighten my afro.” Sheilla says.
