We’ll take any opportunity to add an accessory to our outfit… but when it’s something actually useful – like a sunglasses chain? We are more than here for it.
Sunglasses chains are proving to be the accessory update of summer 2021 because as well as keeping your shades safe, many double up as face mask chains. It’s a simple idea. There are little loops at the end of the chain that hook over the arms of your glasses and hold them there. Think of the mittens your mum might have sewn onto your coat when you were three years old – but make it chic.
When you take your sunglasses off, instead of propping them on top of your head like a hairband, hooking them on your top or leaving them on a chair to get lost / sat on, they’re attached to you, meaning they will never go astray. Game-changer!
Some of our favourites actually look like jewellery, so they can double up as a necklace and there are loads of options that tick off summer’s trend for beaded jewellery. The high street have some brilliant versions and if you have a pair of designer shades, why not add a high end chain to your sunnies?
Asos – as always – is a one-stop shop. We love their thick black plastic chain which adds a chic touch to any outfit while the Vero Moda plastic chain on their site comes in marbled cream and beige shades which would look ideal with a biscuit coloured blazer and white t-shirt.
If you want a more handmade feel, Etsy is a treasure trove of hand-beaded sunglasses chains. The daisy chain we found is adorable and Anthropologie has a chain with tassels attached for a boho mood. If you are feeling crafty, Carolina Bucci does a high end gold chain you can thread with your choice of beads.
Like all the best accessories, you can switch up your chains depending on your mood or occasion. If you’re a wedding guest and wearing a sweet floral dress Frame Chain and Talis Chains both have freshwater peal sunglasses chains which look elegant.
