The Film That Lit My Fuse: ‘Lovecraft Country’ Star Jonathan Majors

The Film That Lit My Fuse is a Deadline video series that aims to provide an antidote to headlines about industry uncertainty by swinging the conversation back to the creative ambitions, formative influences and inspirations of some of today’s great screen artists.

Every installment asks the same five questions. Today’s subject is actor Jonathan Majors, who has starred in The Last Black Man in San Francisco and had his breakout moment last year in HBO’s fantasy drama Lovecraft Country.

Majors has become hot property in Hollywood and has recently signed up to square off against Michael B. Jordan in Creed III, while he will also join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, landing a role in the next Ant-Man movie opposite Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily.

In The Film That Lit My Fuse, he talks about how Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet helped change his life as he embraced acting. He also reveals his love of Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, City of God, and La Haine.
