Exclusive Interview with NOMAE

How long have you been singing?

I know everyone says the same thing, but my entire life. I would memorize my older sister’s songs in her school plays, obsessively perfect Christina Aguilera’s vocal runs in my room for hours, I sang in choirs, studied vocal performance for a while, etc. I lived many years hiding from music, largely out of fear… trying to work regular jobs. Long story short, I couldn’t shake the obsession and here I am making new music every day. I’m so glad I finally got over myself and stopped hiding.

What’s your favorite song to sing?

My favorites are constantly changing, but probably Closer Than You Know by Hillsong. It’s like a 10 minute song, and builds to a high note that’s really fun to sing.

What’s your vibe for 2021?

Keep going! I’m working on a lot, so I’m just trying to stay motivated and trust the creative process.

Who are you spending the most time with creating music?

I work with different teams. Anel Saucedo and I are working on a pop album. She’s an amazing producer and human being. We talk every day, but have yet to meet in person.

Moe Loughran and Jeff Baggett and I operate as a team as well. I love those talented weirdos. We’ve only worked remotely thus far, but get to be in the studio together soon and I’m so excited!!

There are many names I could list, all talented and a pleasure to work with. 2020 was nice to me. All my friends live on the internet.

Is there anything special that is coming up for you?

I’ll continue to release music consistently, but you’ll hear a more pop sound soon. Be on the lookout!

Leave us with some positivity! What is a mantra you want to be remembered by?

Every day is a gift, use it wisely!
