Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jimmy Fallon Welcome Back Broadway With an Incredible Medley of Hits

No one is more excited for the return of Broadway than Lin-Manuel Miranda! On Tuesday night, the In the Heights creator appeared on The Tonight Show for a theatrical performance about the return of musicals in September. Miranda and Jimmy Fallon put their own fresh spin on “You’ll Be Back” from Hamilton to welcome back all the Broadway shows they’ve missed over the last year. They re-create scenes from Dear Evan Hansen, Wicked, West Side Story, The Book of Mormon, and so many more in the delightful parody.

“Broadway, oh, Broadway, you’re finally coming back,” Miranda sings. “I miss drinking wine out of sippy cups and a $20 snack / A night at the theater, my favorite kind of date / I even miss the people who always show up late.” The best part is when Broadway legends Olga Merediz, Phylicia Rashad, Kristin Chenoweth, Christopher Jackson, Laura Benanti, and Jimmy Smits join them on stage. Watch the hilarious performance of “Broadway’s Back!” above and get excited for Broadway to reopen at full capacity on September 14. Da da da dat da!
