Miles Teller will step in for Armie Hammer in the principal role of producer Albert S. Ruddy in Paramount +’s making-of-The Godfather series The Offer, according to Variety. Hammer exited the project in earlier this year during a series of cascading scandals.
In addition to starring, Teller will be an executive producer. Michael Tolkin and Nikki Toscano co-wrote the project, and Toscano will serve as the showrunner. Her previous credits include Revenge, Bates Motel, and Hunters. Tolkin’s recent work includes Escape at Dannemora and Ray Donovan, but he is also known for writing the screenplay for one of the all-time great inside-Hollywood works, Robert Altman’s 1992 film The Player, based on his own novel.
Variety‘s report says Rocketman‘s Dexter Fletcher will direct “the first and last block of episodes.”
The Offer is not to be confused with the upcoming Barry Levinson film Francis and the Godfather, in which Oscar Isaac will appear as Francis Ford Coppola, Jake Gyllenhaal will play Paramount studio chief Robert Evans, Elle Fanning will play Ali MacGraw, and Elisabeth Moss will appear as Eleanor Coppola. No word yet on who is playing Ruddy. Also no word yet as to why we need two of these projects, but that’s another conversation.
In other Miles Teller news, he was seen all this week having a blast in Hawaii with his wife Keleigh Sperry on an extended double-date with Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers. Teller and Woodley co-starred together in the 2013 James Ponsoldt film The Spectacular Now, and the three Divergent movies, so it is nice to see that everyone is still pals.
But in between pleasant hikes and Instagram pics near waterfalls, Teller was reportedly punched in the bathroom of a Maui restaurant by a man claiming he owed him money. TMZ’s report said that he did not appear to be seriously hurt.
