This uniliner trend is all over the Internet – and it’s inspired by the monobrow

Looking for a creative way to make your eyes pop this summer? An awesome trend that is perfect for 2021 is making its way around Instagram.

Derived from the concept of the unibrow, but with the help of liquid eyeliner, the uniliner look consists of winged eyeliner on both eyes, joined together over the bridge of the nose. It’s gorgeous, and truly bold when done right.

Solange Knowles has made waves over the years by sporting a uniliner look, wearing winged liner in teal, silver, yellow and orange shades – and now this trend is coming to the fore, just in time for sunshine and restriction-free parties and socialising.

That said, uniliner vibes work with a mask on too – highlighting two key assets of your face that aren’t covered up by Covid-safe protective gear. A win all around for 2021 make-up looks.

The trick is to draw your waves all the way from the brow area, across your eye, with a pronounced line across the bridge or your nose, connecting with your other eye and out to the opposite brow area. To ensure you can make those delicate waves, the thinner the brush you use the better.

New York-based beauty influencer Vanessa Funes set Instagram on fire with her uniliner tutorial video earlier this year, which she posted after feeling inspired by Solange’s look.

LA-based make-up artist Jacinda Pender is also all about the uniliner trend, and emphasising the importance of non-uniformity and trying out designs that feel right for you.

“Don’t force inspiration from your internal creativity, let it come from you,” she has posted in a caption to her uniliner series update on Instagram, boasting liner designs of orange, green, navy and neon bright blue swirling across her eyes.

Fake eyelashes set off the swirls beautifully, but in the spirit of letting your internal inspiration do the talking, go natural if that’s what you prefer.

Go forth and channel your inner Solange.
