A next-level spa sesh with Guerlain and DIY nail art from Dua Lipa’s manicurist. Here’s what happened on night #2 of The Big Beauty Call…

Of course we like to spoil you, which is why for GLAMOUR’s Big Beauty Call we served up not one, not two, but three nights of virtual hook-ups exploring the best of skincare, haircare andmakeup.

The second evening saw an informative and pampering moment of beauty excellence thanks to Guerlain‘s spa-worthy masterclass on how to next-level your skincare with the brand’s national beauty expert and makeup artist, Olivia Devey.

We also treated viewers to a nail trends masterclass, with nail pro Michelle Humphrey and influencer Klaudia Cloud, where we to learned how to do three different summer nail designs: cute clouds, floral Frenchies and a marble mani.

Spa-aah skin

During the first session of the night, GLAMOUR’s Beauty Director Camilla Kay was joined by beauty blogger Sebinaah Hussain, makeup artist Bernicia Boateng and Guerlain pro Olivia Devey. They let us in on their skincare secrets, hacks and products to elevate your skincare routine to a spa-like experience. From Bernicia’s joy at the skincare benefits of regular moisturising, and new mantra never to skimp on SPF, to Sebinaah’s tip to double-cleanse morning and night and her memorable analogy to think of skincare a little like the gym: do it regularly and reap the rewards.

The favourite Guerlain product of the panel was revealed as Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil, with a unique lightweight water-like texture, offering the nourishment of an oil and the skin-boosting power of a serum, delivering an instant skin radiance effect. Not only a great base for makeup, but Olivia’s top tip is to add a drop of it to your foundation for a glowy boost. The new Guerlain Abeille Royale Eye R Repair Serum came a close second, thanks to its applicator that allows easy massage to help open the eye area.

In part two, the audience shared in a moment of spa bliss as Olivia led a pampering skin session, using the Guerlain Abeille Royale range, suitable for all skin types and ages. Powered with black bee technology, and all sustainably sourced, it’s laden with nourishing honey, a natural humectant that attracts water to the skin, and royal jelly, which is rich in amino acids, lipids and vitamins. Olivia shared her expertise on how to use your fingers like a gua sha for a relaxing and effective facial massage. The ultimate way to elevate your morning and evening routine.

To start, Olivia encouraged the audience to take a moment to breathe; inhale and exhale while gently pressing the pressure points of the face for a relaxed mindset. Then wipe over skin with Guerlain Abeille Royale Fortifying Lotion as the prep step, which also helps to strengthen the skin barrier.

Next, warm a few drops of [link url=”https://www.guerlain.com/uk/en-uk/p/abeille-royale-youth-watery-oil-P061332.html nofollow=”true”]Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil[/link] in your palms, and press the heel of the palms onto skin and smooth outwards from the centre of the face, across cheeks, forehead and along the jawline. Create a fist and using the knuckles, knead in circular motions across the face.

Now apply Guerlain Abeille Royale Double R Renew & Repair Serum and smooth outwards with fingertips across the cheeks and forehead and down the neck. Apply the eye serum with the applicator along the ocular bone and massage it in with small circular motions. Finally, finish with a moisturiser or night cream.

And as an extra takeaway there was an exclusive offer code revealed. Use GLAMOUREVENT code at the checkout on guerlain.com to receive a deluxe miniature with your purchase.

Getting nail arty

During the second session of the evening, GLAMOUR’s Deputy Beauty Editor Elle Turner sat down with celebrity manicurist Michelle Humphrey (whose A-list clients include Dua Lipa and Madonna) and content creator Klaudia Cloud (whose DIY nail art is seriously impressive) for a mini mani sesh.

The masterclass ticked off trends (Michelle and Klaudia were unanimous: green is the biggest shade to have on your radar), it covered shaping (the tool is more important than the technique) and it drilled down on application tips (leave a teensy space around the edge).

As for designs, Michelle showed us how to create a French tip like a pro, then elevated it for this season with floral accents. Want to raise your game? Pick up a dotting tool from Amazon, says Michelle, but the end of a bobby pin will do the job, too.

Klaudia showed us how ridiculously easy it can be to create clouds – again with a bobby pin and a somewhat steady hand. She also took us through the coolest places to find inspiration, including matching your design with your outfit.

And Michelle proved that while they look complicated, marble nails are totally doable – provided you know the secret. She striped complementary colours on a metal nail palette, swirled them together with a detail brush (but a cocktail stick will work), scooped them up on a nail brush (an old lip brush does the trick too) and zig-zagged them into her still-damp base coat.
