Britney Spears calls the documentaries about her ‘so hypocritical’, saying that people just want to focus on ‘the most traumatising times in her life’

This issue of Britney Spears‘s conservatorship has intensified her place in the spotlight – everyone wants a piece of the pop star.

Usually cryptic in her social media posts, the singer this time made it clear she’s had enough of all of the documentaries that have come out and focused on her conservatorship, something she is currently in legal battles over to change the terms of.

In case you’re hearing this all for the first time, Britney’s conservatorship puts her father, Jamie Spears, in an unusually powerful position over her assets, career and big decisions. Britney wants her father to take a backseat in her conservatorship, shifting the dynamics completely to Jamie’s distaste, hence the complex legalities involved.

Due to a #FreeBritney social media movement, interest in the issue grew and soon journalists from the New York Times created Framing Britney Spears, a documentary that deep dived on the issue both historically and up until the present day.

Now the BBC have released The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash, and a Conservatorship, and Britney has clearly had enough.

She broke her silence on Instagram, where she has a loyal following to her dance and lifestyle videos.

She wrote: “2021 is definitely way better than 2020 but I never knew it was gonna be like THIS 😳😳😳 !!!!

“So many documentaries about me this year with other people’s takes on my life … what can I say … I’m deeply flattered !!!! These documentaries are so hypocritical … they criticize the media and then do the same thing 🤔🤔🤔?????”

These documentaries have naturally focused on the more traumatic parts of the Britney’s personal life which led to her conservatorship being put in place to begin with. While they provide the necessary background to why this problem exists in her life today, they’ve repeatedly reshown footage of Britney at some of her lowest moments (notably her 2007 and 2008 breakdowns); times that she never wanted to be played out in the public eye to begin with.

She continued: “Damn … I don’t know y’all but I’m thrilled to remind you all that although I’ve had some pretty tough times in my life … I’ve had waaaayyyy more amazing times in my life and unfortunately my friends … I think the world is more interested in the negative 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ !!!!

“[…] Why highlight the most negative and traumatizing times in my life from forever ago ????”

Britney then went on to write about some positives in her life now.

Finally, throwing some shade at the end of the post, she finished with: “PSSSS I don’t actually talk to Billy B AT ALL so I’m honestly very confused 😂😂😂 !!! This is my Instagram !!!! PSSSSS no paparazzi guy … I didn’t want you and your crew following me around !!!!”

The public still has a twisted appetite for Britney’s ‘tough’ times, and she’s ready to change the narrative.
