While we wait for Mike Flanagan and Leah Fong’s Netflix series “The Midnight Club,” an adaptation of Christopher Pike‘s novel, we’ve learned tonight that Flanagan has set up another adaptation of Pike’s work. Flanagan’s next movie, Deadline reports, will be The Season of Passage, a feature adaptation of Pike’s sci-fi/horror novel published in 1993!
Mike Flanagan is directing and also co-writing the screenplay with brother James Flanagan.
As Flanagan explains on Twitter, this has long been one of his dream projects…
“I see you brought the fire…” This project has been a dream of mine since I was a teenager. I’m so excited to be collaborating with my brother James, and my partner in crime @IntrepidPix on this epic horror movie – in space – for @UniversalPics. https://t.co/YEn7iOj5yb

Deadline reports, “Plot details are being kept secret; however, the Season of Passage centers around celebrity Dr. Lauren Wagner who was involved in a manned expedition to Mars. The whole world admired and respected her. But Lauren knew fear. Inside―voices entreating her to love them. Outside―the mystery of the missing group that had gone before her. The dead group. But were they simply dead? Or something else?”
Flanagan and Trevor Macy are producing for Intrepid Pictures.
Christopher Pike will be executive producing the adaptation of his novel.
