The new series of Married At First Sight UK will be more like the Australian version (and they’re looking for applicants!)

Married At First Sight: Australia season 6 is currently showing on E4 and has everyone totally hooked right now. Safe to say the endless drama is helping us get through lockdown 3.0!

While Married At First Sight UK has had multiple series already, it’s currently a different format to the Australian version, in which the couples don’t take part in actual legal weddings, but instead use ‘commitment ceremonies’ – meaning if contestants decide their beau isn’t actually for them after all, it’s easier to get out of.

Married At First Sight: Australia has been so successful that the new UK series is going to change their filming to copy it, with ‘commitment ceremonies’, multiple couples, and that Big Brother-meets-Love Island vibe we love so much about the Aussie version. And the best part? They’re looking for applicants!

What will Married At First Sight UK be about?

A statement from E4 read: “Following the Australian format, rather than legal marriages, the couples will make a lifelong commitment to one another at a glamorous ceremony, overseen by a wedding celebrant, that includes guests, bridal gowns, dancing, speeches and cake.

“After the ceremony and celebrations are over, true love is well and truly put to the test, as they embark on a luxurious honeymoon, before moving in with each other AND their fellow couples.

“Relationships will be put under the microscope, by fellow brides and grooms at weekly dinner parties – as well as by the experts, at recurring commitment ceremonies, where couples choose whether they want to stay in or leave the process.

“All this and more will build to a dramatic series finale: glossy, high-stakes vow renewals, in which each couple must decide if they will recommit to their partner or go their separate ways.”

When will it air?

An exact air date hasn’t yet been revealed, but going by past seasons of the show, it is likely to be Autumn 2021, with filming starting this Spring.

Fancy applying? Here’s what you need to know…

“In this unique relationship series about married life, a panel of matchmaking experts will be there to help you find the one. To apply, email with your name, age, and contact number to marriedatfirstsight@cplproductions.co.uk.

“APPLICANTS MUST BE AGED 18+. Please note, due to a high volume of applicants, unfortunately we cannot guarantee that we will be able to get back to everyone, but thank you for taking the time to apply.”

You need to be available to start filming in spring 2021 – which is SO SOON. Good luck!
