Hermès, known for their commitment to craftsmanship and art of equestrianism, announced that they are adding Swiss Olympic gold medalist Steve Guerdat to their roster of riders. Back in the mid-1800’s the fashion house’s founder Thierry Hermès said that the horse was the customer that needed to be satisfied first and foremost. In the decades since, partnerships with world class riders like Guerdat have not only continued to highlight a founding principle the Hermès brand, pushed the house to continue nourishing the next generation of equestrian riders.
“When I ride with the Hermès saddle it is barely noticeable, but it allows me to stay connected and be attentive to my horses…I am very happy to be a part of this new venture.” said Guerdat
As the son of acclaimed show jumper and trainer Phillip Guerdat, riding runs in Guerdat’s blood. He became the youngest rider in the World Top 20 in 2005, won a gold medal in the individual category at the 2012 London Olympics, and took home the FEI World Cup Final in 2015. “Guerdat is an exceptional rider, who is respected for his talent and his list of wins, as well as his humility and sincerity, by all of the equestrian world’s stakeholders,” said Ly Lallier, Hermès’ Equestrian Managing Director. “We (Hermes) share the same respect for the horse and passion for great sport with him.”
