The best Boxing Day fashion and clothing deals to know about ahead of a fresh new year

Although many of us are still scrambling to meet last Christmas delivery dates and finish our Christmas shopping on time, the Boxing Day sales and January sales are fast approaching. In fact, loads of them have started already. What wonderful news, since once the crackers have been pulled and the turkey eaten, there’s nothing better to do than a spot of internet shopping. Particularly when things are set to be so quiet.

Sure, the Boxing Day sales shopping event is set to look a little different in 2020. Any mention usually conjures up thoughts of eagle-eyed shoppers queuing outside of their favourite high street stores in the early hours of Boxing Day morning – elbows at the ready. This year, however, most will be shopping from the comfort of their own sofas. No complaints. As such, the sales are set to be bigger and better than ever (eek!), so if you’ve been financially hit this year, Boxing Day is the perfect time to make some essential purchases knowing you’re getting a great deal. We’ve curated an edit of the best Boxing Day fashion and clothing deals at ASOS, H&M, Net-A-Porter, Selfridges and more for your convenience.

Oh, and we’ve already revealed the best Boxing Day beauty sales for makeup, skincare and haircare junkies. You’re welcome.

When do the Boxing Day sales start?

As the name suggests, the Boxing Day sales start on 26 December – traditionally. But as was the case with the best Black Friday fashion deals, many retailers have kickstarted things early this year. In fact, many brands have winter sales which span the entire month. Just remember: deals tend to get better as the month progresses, with the biggest discounts often landing in the first week of January. It just depends whether you can be patient…

Are Black Friday or Boxing Day sales better?

It’s hard to tell. While Black Friday deals tend to be “blanket promotions” or “sitewide” deals of around 10-30%, Boxing Day often sees larger discounts on selected lines. So if you take it at face value, it could be argued that you’re more likely to bag a bargain on Boxing Day. Retailers have all of their autumn/winter stock to shift ahead of the new year – despite the cold weather going nowhere.

How to get the best Boxing Day deals

The secret here is purchase planning. Don’t go into the Boxing Day sales like a bull in a China shop. That’ll only result in unsustainable behaviour. Instead, take a look at your wish lists, think about the pieces that are missing from your capsule wardrobe and make a list. Set yourself a budget and buy timeless.

What are the best Boxing Day fashion sales in 2020?

Many Boxing Day sales have started early this year. Case in point: Kurt Gieger and H&M are both already offering up to 50 per cent off, while Net-A-Porter is offering up to 60% off luxury fashion and accessories. Selfridges has launched an up-to-30% off winter sale, encouraging you to “buy now and love forever” (although discounts will get greater from Christmas Eve onwards), & Other Stories has dropped a *huge* sale and Nike has launched an epic women’s sale ahead of the January fitness boom. It’s not like we’ll have anything else to do.

Retailers like John Lewis and M&S are set to launch huge sales on Christmas Eve (we’re talking up to 50% off, so watch this space), and there has been talk of a Mulberry 50% off sale. In the market for a new designer handbag? Keep your eyes on the prize.
