Thank you for chatting with us today! This has been crazy for most – what has been your biggest take away?
Hi there, it’s my pleasure! Wow, yea… “crazy” is an understatement. I think my biggest takeaway has simply been reaffirming for myself about that primal need I have to be creative. It’s like a life source for me — As soon as I realized we were going to have the stage stolen away due to this terrible Pandemic I went into survival mode and immediately began work on my latest EP, ‘The Real Thing’. I never dreamed that 8 months later I would be holding the finished product yet still be dealing with the repercussions of COVID-19.
We would love to learn more about you. Would you do a brief walkthrough of where you started and where you are now?
So I began my professional career at 17 when I was ‘discovered’ by a producer named David Downes. David had created the Multi-Platinum Irish Group ‘Celtic Woman’ and signed me to a development deal. I spent 4 years in Ireland working with some of the best in the business and developing my craft as a recording artist, musician and performer. After my time in Ireland I moved to NYC for several years and eventually fate led me to Las Vegas. I’ve headlined 3 different shows on Las Vegas Strip and have now transitioned into a lot more touring work. I keep Vegas as ‘home base’ for the moment and still perform throughout town quite regularly in addition to my traveling and recording work.
We are loving your new music – tell us more about what inspired the latest single.
Thank you so much! Well, as I mentioned earlier – I’ve just recorded a brand new EP over the summer called ‘The Real Thing’. The title track was written by my friend Mario Spinetti and really speaks to that human desire to find the things in life that are “real” — even if it doesn’t have a fairy-tale ending, there’s no denying that an experience that is real and genuine absolutely leads to growth. We are complex creatures.
Tell us what has been your top career achievement this far?
I definitely think headlining in Vegas has been a pretty surreal experience. I was the face of a show called ‘Pianoman’ at Planet Hollywood several years ago and to see my face on billboards and taxi cabs around the city was a pretty awesome life moment. You can imagine how exciting that was for my parents *laughing*.
What is in store for 2021 for you, or anything planned you can share?
2021 has a lot in store… I have plans to start my first album of original music that was written for me by my supremely talented friend and colleague Effie Passero, whom you might know from ‘American Idol’. It’s a very special collection of songs that sort of chronicles my first real experience with falling in love and the subsequent heartbreak that followed.
Alongside that project, there is definitely of live performances being lined up – we have a lot of lost time to make up for! I just can’t wait to be on stage again.
If we want to follow along on your journey – where is the best place to do that? And where can we download your new EP?
You can find me on all social media at ‘Brett Pruneau’ or also through my website brettpruneaumusic.com ! ‘The Real Thing’ is available now on iTunes, Spotify, and all other major music platforms! I look forward to connecting!!
