Trevor Noah Isn’t Even A Little Surprised Rudy Giuliani Got Coronavirus

Trevor Noah, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert all took shots at former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani after he was diagnosed with coronavirus on Sunday, following weeks of Giuliani flouting public health protocols.

“COVID-19 has finally struck its least surprising victim yet,” Noah joked on The Daily Show. He quickly added that Giuliani, who for weeks has participated in President Donald Trump’s numerous failed attempts to overturn the election and subvert democracy, “is suing to have that result overturned.”

Giuliani has frequently appeared at press conferences and public hearings without wearing a mask. In the wake of his diagnosis, state legislatures in both Michigan and Arizona were forced to postpone work to avoid potentially spreading the infection further.

“The truth is that Rudy’s only got himself to blame for this,” Noah said. “I mean, this dude was going all over the country refusing to wear a mask. What do you expect? If I go around licking car windshields, I can’t be shocked if I get bird flu. Or if I go around drinking at bars until 3 a.m., I can’t be surprised when I go home with yo mama.”

While the host said some of his viewers might feel a sense of “schadenfreude” about the latest Trump advisor to contract the highly contagious disease, he also found the diagnosis terrifying. “We didn’t even think that dead guys could get corona,” Noah joked.

“We all wish Rudy Giuliani a speedy recovery,” Noah added. “I want him to get back to the days when his hair was melting off his head.”

Giuliani was hospitalized with coronavirus on Sunday. According to Trump, who first announced Giuliani’s diagnosis, the GOP attorney is “doing well” and allegedly doesn’t have a fever. Giuliani also wrote on Twitter that he was feeling better.

“He claims he is feeling good, he claims he is recovering quickly, he’s feasting on the blood of newborn babies in the maternity ward,” Kimmel joked on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The host then rattled off a number of outrageous headlines about Giuliani that have occurred since November.

“You know, if someone made this story up, we’d say it was too much—it was extreme,” Kimmel said. “But this man has put up some incredible statistics over the past six weeks. October 23rd: We see him on camera playing pocket pool with Borat’s daughter. November 7th: He holds a press conference in an alley outside a landscaping business, across from a dildo shop. November 19th: motor oil leaks out of his head. December 2nd: he farts loudly during a pretend election hearing in Michigan. And here we are now on December 7th, and Count Flatula has the coronavirus. Have we ever seen a streak like this? I mean, this puts DiMaggio’s 56-game hitting streak to shame.”

On The Late Show, Colbert also marveled at Giuliani’s recent run of infamy.

“So, for just a partial list of Rudy’s achievements since the election: He’s lost 48 lawsuits, he melted on camera, he farted in court, he got COVID, and he shut down a state legislature,” Colbert said. “The only thing more embarrassing would be if he married his own cousin.”
