Peter Dinklage Starring in Legendary’s ‘The Toxic Avenger’ Reboot!

Troma is finally going big time with their reboot of The Toxic Avenger being produced by Legendary Pictures, the company behind Godzilla, Jurassic Park, Crimson Peak, Krampus, Trick ‘r Treat, the forthcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel, among many others.

Big breaking news ahead of the holiday season as Deadline reports that Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”, Knights of Badassdom) is in talks to star in Legendary’s Toxic Avenger, which will be directed by the previously announced Macon Blair.

In the 1984 original Toxic Avenger, directed by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz…

“The Toxic Avenger is born when meek mop boy Melvin falls into a vat of toxic waste. Now evildoers will have a lot to lose.”

The article doesn’t say as to whether or not Dinklage is playing Melvin, who turns into the Toxic Avenger. He could as easily be playing the villain.

Blair starred in the films Blue Ruin and Green Room, and he more recently wrote Netflix’s Hold the Dark and wrote/directed I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore.

The site adds: “The Toxic Avenger became successful after a long run as a midnight movie in New York City, leading to the sequels The Toxic Avenger Part II, The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie, and Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV. The property also became a stage musical production, a children’s cartoon TV series, and a Marvel comic.”

Kaufman and Herz will produce alongside Legendary’s Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter.
