Exclusive Interview with Avatari

Hi Avatari! Thanks for being here!

Hey, it’s my pleasure!

Who has been your greatest influence?

I’ve gotta go with my parents. They raised me right. Always encouraged me to follow my dreams and my passions. Opened as many doors for me as a guy could hope for. Loved each other. And loved me. No parents are perfect. But they’re pretty darn close.

What would you tell your younger self if you could?

Well, in regards to being an artist and entrepreneur I’d say – spend as much time learning to market and promote yourself as you do honing in on your craft and your artistry. And generally, as a human, I’d say – take time every day to experience and show appreciation for all of your blessings. That being said, I’m not sure my younger self would’ve listened!

When did you become a music lover and what does music bring to your life?

I think I probably came out of the womb loving music. Maybe it was my mother’s heartbeat? The first major musical experience I remember having was when my dad played Little Richard Tutti Frutti for me. It was love at first listen. I wound up singing it later on at my first talent contest. Funny thing is – I played it for my two-year-old son and he’s had the exact same reaction. He loves it. Uh oh!

What was your first CD?

I can’t remember my first CD, but I remember my first vinyl. It was Ritchie Valens. I’d just seen the movie La Bamba and I was obsessed.

Is there a song you are currently listening to on repeat?

“Original Me” by Dan Reynolds and Yungblud. Two of my favorite current artists and the song really rocks. I also keep coming back to “Somebody To Love” by OneRepublic. Oh yeah, and “I Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty. OK, I’ll stop.

What is your favorite holiday dish?

Hmmm, it’s hard because I’m really a fan of how they all fit together. The yams, the coleslaw, the stuffing, the cranberry sauce, the gravy. Gotta have gravy. I’m a big sauce guy.

What are you most thankful for?

My health. My friends. My family. Music. My fans. Community. The positive side of going through the pandemic is that I feel like life has been boiled down to the essentials. Things I’ve taken for granted in the past feel so much more important today.
