NY Indie Flamenco Rock’s – Gasoline Tequila have something special, with “Sonder” being the latest example of what this truly gifted band are good for. The group are from the New York area and it seems they only cater to all things good in the area and beyond, with a measure of quality only found in major artists. And the case of a band doing that in today’s musical landscape is not as rare as it used to be, but you still don’t find musicians of this caliber without looking for it, and they should be even more widely recognized than they are.

I do not know if it is just more or if Flamenco guitar is a super clean sounding thing because even if a note is fumbled, I can’t hear it when I listen to some players. All I can do is be in awe of it and it usually doesn’t matter who it is, so the clean sound is always there to me. I am talking about the exuberance coming from the instrument at one with the player, and the talents of Massimo Lusardi and Hernan Romero sure know how to use it for maximum results.
The two met on the local scene in NY and started playing together and have not stopped ever since, and Gasoline Tequila have played everywhere from NY to LA and back. I had not heard this band up until now, but they’ve been under my radar with several songs out, with videos at their website with their interesting story for all to read. You can also find the origins of “Sonder” depicted by Lusardi himself and see what the band are doing on the NY music scene to change the face of it, only to be temporarily interrupted by the pandemic.

The rich sounds they get from their guitars throughout “Sonder” is the hallmark of Gasoline Tequila, combined with their unique style of shows and what sense of community they bring out. Lusardi tells a story through his music and Romero compliments it as the two play in precision unison. They sound as if they have been playing together longer than they actually have, so I was surprised to hear such a well oiled machine before delving into some previous videos and it’s all up to the same standard as “Sonder,” which is a testament to Tequila Gasoline’s mileage of which they have plenty on the road.
“Sonder” is a smoking hot single with everything most of today’s music is missing, and that is the kind of thing only artists like Santana, Al Stewart and others of the past are made of. If I were to compare them, I would at least place them in that league for playing chops, and the production and sound mix is justifiably impressive as well. This is a band I can only say good things about, with a song released to help take away the pandemic blues, but they’re also a band on the rise to watch out for in general and have been for several years now.
