One month after filing for divorce and one week after they were spotted kissing at her birthday party, Cardi B is officially back together with her husband Offset and her fans are not taking it very well.
Cardi deactivated her Twitter account over the weekend after doing an Instagram Live on Saturday night about the status of her relationship with the Migos rapper, criticizing her fans for being overly involved in and opinionated about her private life. During the livestream, she said she was leaving the platform because of, “a whole bunch of 15-year-olds telling me how to live my life like I’m motherfucking Ariana Grande or something, like I came from Disney or something.”
“I’m so tired that because of y’all I’ve gotta continuously explain myself,” Cardi continued. “I didn’t put my divorce out there, a fucking court clerk put it out there. And because people are making rumors up, ‘Oh, this guy has a girl pregnant,’ this and that, I have to address it.” She added that she doesn’t understand why if she’s able to work things out with her husband people still feel entitled to harass him on social media. “To be honest with you, my marriage is one of the least worries that I have right now,” she said. “I love my fans and I’m thankful and I’m grateful for everything you do, but some of you really be acting like I sleep with ya.”
This isn’t the first time she has had to delete her social media because of overzealous critics. Cardi previously deactivated her Instagram account in February 2019 in response to the backlash from her historic Grammy victory.
And while she may be a prolific user of both social media platforms, in a March 2019 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she made it clear that she’ll always prioritize her real-life over her followers. “Sometimes I’ll see something online and it’ll piss me off, and then my baby will start crying or something, and it’s like, ‘You know what? I’ve got to deal with the milk. Forget this,’” she told the outlet. “I’ve noticed that every time you respond, you just make things worse, so I’m over it. I’m just over it. I really don’t need it, and sometimes it just brings chaos to my brain. I can stay off social media. I’ve been trying.”
