Christmasis saved. Literally. On Christmas day itself, Netflix is dropping Shonda Rhimes’s – the maker of Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy – first foray into period drama, Bridgerton, and we cannot wait.

Based on the books by Julia Quinn, the new TV show redefines the costume drama format with fully inclusive casting and a corset load of sass. There is Mis-teeq levels of scandal as the characters navigate love, life and backstabbing in Regency England. Oh, and Julie Andrews provides the voice of the narrator. COULD THIS BE ANY BETTER? Well, it could because we have secured an exclusive first look at the show in all its glory.

At the centre of the drama is Daphne Bridgerton, played by GLAMOUR’s new heroine, Phoebe Dynevor, the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her breakthrough on the competitive AF marriage market.

However, whilst the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown celebrates Daphne as the catch of the day, it soon casts aspersions on her prospects and Daphne’ over-protective brother proves to be an obstacle for any of her potential suitors.

Just when things couldn’t get more complex for Daphne, a reluctant suitor in the dashing form of the rebellious and committed bachelor, Duke of Hastings played by Regé-Jean Page, comes on the scene. Whilst the duke claims he will not commit the attraction between the two fires up and soon society is also wagging their tongues, too.

The series also stars GLAMOUR favourite and Derry Girls star, Nicola Coughlan alongside a bevy of incredible British actors including, Golda Rosheuvel, Jonathan Bailey, Luke Newton, Luke Thompson, Claudia Jessie, Nicola Coughlan, Ruby Barker, Sabrina Bartlett, Ruth Gemmell, Adjoa Andoh, Polly Walker, Bessie Carter and Harriet Cains.

So, get ready for some cracking Christmas drama when Bridgerton hits Netflix on 25th December.
