Seven years after a series finale that most deemed disappointing, THR is reporting today that “Showtime” is bringing “Dexter” back to life for a limited series revival.
And yes, Michael C. Hall will return as the titular serial killer!
The 10-episode revival is also bringing back showrunner Clyde Phillips.
THR notes, “The show will be a continuation of the original series, which ended with Hall’s Dexter Morgan going on self-imposed exile as a lumberjack and living a solitary life.”
“Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago,” Showtime Entertainment president Gary Levine said in a statement. “We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”
At this time, a premiere sometime in Fall 2021 is expected.
“Dexter” ran for eight seasons between 2006 and 2013.
