Our favourite thing about Paris Fashion Week? Fresh croissants and proper hot chocolate, obvs. But fashion-wise? Our favourite thing is definitely the epic street style. The architecture and picturesque show locations made every person look like an extra from Emily in Paris. Just crossing the road could turn into a fully fledged Fashion Moment if you’re in the right outfit. Except this season, there are fewer shows… less influencer attendees… and far less opportunities to parade in fabulous outfits.
Fashion Week was always the place where you could spot what Zara pieces were going to go viral, which It bag you’d be craving and the new colour combinations everyone was experimenting with. The trends beyond the catwalk were often more interesting, and relatable, than the actual shows! But despite social distancing rules and a new normal mood, there are still some show-goers determined to style up for the new season. We’re taking inspiration for our own new season style from the fashion-pack’s Autumn lewks and these are our favourite ideas you can get on board with right now.
The new two piece
If you’re over the sweatpants / sweatshirt combo (uh-huh) a trouser suit makes for a surprisingly easy step up from sportswear. You don’t have to think about what to wear as the two piece comes ready co-ordinated for you. Choose a soft wool mix fabric that is as cosy as your trackies and add a pop of contrasting colour under the jacket and you’re done.
Clashing!
Fringing and tie-dye and checks, oh my. But clashing prints and textures doesn’t have to make you look like an eccentric art teacher. It’s easy to keep an eclectic mash-up of an outfit looking pulled together if you choose similar tones… and it’s even chicer if they come in an eternally polished shade like grey.
Knee-high boots
The accessory set to stage the biggest comeback this Autumn in the knee-high boot. Call it Y2K nostalgia (it totally is) but knee-highs are being worn with everything from mini-shirt dresses to… (can you believe it?) tucked in jeans. Make them more 2020 than 2000 by choosing a high-shine patent finish and slick square toe.
Retro denim
As everything goes retro it’s fair to say that denim is going back in time too. That early Naughties classic, the flare, has just regained it’s status as It item. Style it up with a plaid tunic and original logo bag and you’ll look simultaneously old-school and on-trend.
The black and white combo
When fashion meets workwear it can sometimes turn out a little bit weird but a crisp white shirt and classic black trousers look edgy under a checked sleeveless jacket and two-tone square-toe boots.
Bring back the blazer
Likewise, everything can be made right for cooler weather by slinging an oversized blazer over it. Whether it’s a slinky lurex t-shirt dress or your summer slips, fine rib polo-necks or classic shirting (ok, you get the picture) you will look 100% more styled in this most statement of jackets.

Two-tone boots
We’ve noticed lots of two-tone boots worn off-the catwalk this season. It’s a practical choice – they go with double the amount of colours!
Go hell for leather
Double, triple and even quadruple leather all worn in one outfit doesn’t have to look creepy. Choose a chic co-ord as the basis of your outfit then add tonal accessories to complement and contrast with the base shades.
