Red Eye’s “A Girl Too Far” feat. Vocalist Dennis Demille

Time to kill, places to go, yet time goes fast, and pain so slow. You’re a dead man running. Oh, I can almost see the listeners’ eyes growing larger listening to Britain’s Got Talent alum, Dennis Demille singing those chilling words in the new track, “A Girl Too Far”. Demille is guest vocalist on Spanish-based composer Red Eye’s latest offering. An exquisite ode to James Bond rock orchestra themes, with a dash of flare, once you get started, there’s no turning back on “A Girl Too Far”. It’s that good.

Only a guy like Trevor Perfect, the man behind Red Eye, can write a song with such a memorable femme fatale. And only a baritone-rich man like Demille can deliver the words with such class and finesse. Shaken and stirred, dazed and confused, when you have nothing, you’ve nothing to lose, Demille sings. When he sings these lines with particular monumental prowess, the listener is just butter in Demille’s hands. Silky and smooth like satin sheets, his deep voice has a lick of rascal. It’s obvious he has the pipes to sing this song with his spot-on Rat Pack musical foundation. It’s also clear form Demille’s natural vocal bass that the rhythmic movement in “A Girl Too Far” needs to look no further for Demille for that extra bounce. The music bedrock is a mixture of the luxurious symphonic movements, and quick, jagged electric guitar arrangements. It also has a fierce, capow-like burst that caffeinates the vibe, a modern touch. Red Eye is so good at blending all of these sonic outcasts and heating them up in his musical kiln.

The obvious Bond movie ties is one way to interpret this song. And maybe that’s just all it is, but Red Eye has such a strong history of making each song count as really something, I wonder if there is more than meets the eye with “A Girl Too Far”. My only theory that seems anywhere near plausible is that government is the woman, and this song is Red Eye’s slick way of making the listener realize the power of government and their corrupt, toxic ways. It’s a theory. I didn’t say it was the best one. What I can impress upon you as a listener is that this song is outstanding. Whether you’re a fan of the Bond movies or not, this song has a way of suspending disbelief.

Red Eye recently nabbed a runner up mention for its song “Moroccan Fruit” as song of the decade from Severn FM, and also gained attention with “Little England” as a Top 40 Brexit Songs (coming in at No. 5) from the podcast, Sixteen Million Rising. Overall, “A Girl Too Far” is a catchy, a bit eccentric, but highly enjoyable track. Just in time for Halloween or the nightmare relationship you have in your life, “A Girl Too Far” has that extra chill factor that can’t be replicated. High praise for Red Eye, indeed, and especially Dennis Demille for his character-filled voice.
