Deadline Now: Venice Film Festival Veers From Terrific Tilda Swinton To Day 2 Screening Woes

The Venice Film Festival got off to a stellar start with jury head Cate Blanchett welcoming attendees and Tilda Swinton giving a rousing Golden Lion acceptance speech.

Day 2, however, was a different story.

Coronavirus prevention protocols such as temperature checks created bottlenecks as festgoers stood in line to see films.

As a result, screenings started uncharacteristically late — and some unusually empty.
