Brand new Marvel fan-art imagines Captain America and Tony Stark’s first meeting after the events of Avengers: Endgame. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s banner heroes had a tumultuous relationship during their time as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Due to their differences in world view, they often butt heads, but they typically found common ground for the greater good.
With Endgame marking the culmination of the Infinity Saga, the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed film also served as the swan song for a few of the franchise’s founding heroes including Steve Rogers and Tony. At the end of the film, both heroes effectively retired from their respective superhero roles, albeit in very different ways. While Tony died, sacrificing himself to defeat Thanos, the latter opted to pass the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and live a simple life he always longed for with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell)

Sean Filart‘s fan-art, however, imagines how their potential meet up following the events of Endgame can pan out. In the comic strip he created, an older Captain America with Peggy is introduced to Howard and Maria Stark’s newborn son, Tony. The artist even snuck a Burger King pouch in his creation, referencing to Iron Man’s penchant for cheeseburgers. Check out the image below:
Tony and Steve’s biggest issue, however, came from the reveal that the latter intentionally kept the truth about the death of the former’s parents in an effort to protect Bucky (Sebastian Stan) who was brainwashed to murder the Starks. This made their conflict personal instead of simply disagreeing on the Sokovia Accords in Captain America: Civil War. This rift lasted for years, with the pair initially fighting Thanos separated in Avengers: Infinity War. It was only after their loss to the Mad Titan and the five years that followed that they decided move past their issues to focus on the time heist.
It’s also worth mentioning that this made-up scenario would be a great follow-up to Tony and Steve’s trip to the ’70s. As they missed the opportunity to nab the Tesseract/Space Stone during the Battle of New York, the pair improvised to complete their mission, forcing them to travel further back to acquire the crystal. On that trip, Tony was reunited with his father, Howard, and was able to find the closure he needed from him. Steve, on the other hand, had a glance of Peggy, who was busy working at S.H.I.E.L.D..
Specifics of Steve’s ending are still murky, so it’s curious if the scenario proposed by the fan-created artwork is something that’s actually possible to happen. Even the Russos and the film’s writers: Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely can’t agree on whether or not Cap’s final fate created a new timeline in Avengers: Endgame. Regardless, those who have been invested in both characters’ stories would be happy at the thought of old Steve potentially meeting an infant Tony.
