HBO’s “Lovecraft Country” Gets Official Poster Art and August Premiere Date

Be careful what you search for.

From Misha Green, Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams, HBO’s new horror series “Lovecraft Country” is on the way, and we’ve learned today that the series will premiere on August 16.

“Lovecraft Country” is based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff.

The series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams).

This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback.

“Lovecraft Country” is executive produced by Misha Green, who also serves as showrunner, along with J.J AbramsJordan PeeleBill CarraroYann Demange (Episode 1 director), Daniel Sackheim (Episodes 2 & 3 director) and David Knoller (exec producer on Episode 1).
