Welcome, R0zegld! So glad you could come talk with us today! Now, you recently released a new album, what inspired this album?
-These songs where inspired by human connection and love, like many are, however what I think sets this music apart is its looking at LOVE in a spiritual way. It’s not just romantic love songs. Most of the emotions behind the lyrics where inspired by my love for my child, my friends, my community.
How would you describe your sound?
-I call it Dream Pop. There is an electronic element that I wanted to stay very true to and keep it simple. It’s just pretty and I love that! I have always added this dirtier rock element into my production in other projects and this record is just pure and accessible.
You’re a single mother, how do you juggle being a mom and a music producer?
I was horrified of being a mom and I thought my career was over as an artist, but quite the opposite! My daughter inspires me to do more and work harder than ever before. She also keeps me focused and on task because there is no time to mess around. I am getting comfortable with her just being a part of the process. If she comes into the studio I just keep working. It may add a couple bad takes if she’s noisy or take longer, but it also adds an element of good energy to the music! I make music to connect and share emotion and she just makes that more true and real.
Do you feel that women are underrepresented in music production?
I think so yes, but we are starting to shine. I think things will even out quickly. In a spiritual sense for me gender is so fluid and unnecessary. Our bodies are just vessels for our souls to communicate. I love everything feminine but I see it more as extra the defining who we are. I hope we can see true freedom and equality without any of the boundaries we set on ourselves as people someday, but while we are still underrepresented and underpaid I am going to keep working to really try to build a community and connect with other female producers and DJS.
Name one artist you would like to collaborate with this year.
One!?!? That’s hard. Hmmmmm. I think it would be amazing to work with Sia. She is so creative and I think we could make an amazing track together. Her vocals are goals for me! I actually met her once many years back.
What is your beauty secret?
I think Yoga is the best thing I have ever done for myself as a whole. Also I finally have a great skin routine! I always left out the toner. Lol.
