Listen to a Demo Version of Tom Petty’s “You Don’t Know How It Feels”

The family of Tom Petty has shared an 8-track demo version of Petty’s Wildflowers classic “You Don’t Know How It Feels.” According to a press release, the demo will appear on “a forthcoming Wildflowers project on Warner Records.” Hear the home-recorded “You Don’t Know How It Feels” below.

“You Don’t Know How It Feels” was released in 1994. The demo version was recorded in Petty’s home studio and features slightly different lyrics from the album version. “The family and the band are in a joyful process of discovering the Wildflowers sessions
and demos and wanted to share a tiny bit of that with the fans today,” Tom Petty’s daughter Adria said in a press release on behalf of her family.

Prior to his death in October 2017, Tom Petty had discussed the possibility of releasing an expanded edition of Wildflowers. “I think people are going to like it a lot,” he said. “I like it a lot.”
