These are the absolute best spots for a weekend break in the UK (and they’re booking up fast)

What’s your dream weekend getaway? Something sunny, most likely. A trip to Paris on the Eurostar, perhaps? Or Lisbon… that’d be nice. Outdoor dining, a sea view and a cocktail or three. There’s also Copenhagen, for sartorial Scandi inspo aplenty, or Berlin for the history and nightlife. The world’s your oyster. Except, it’s kinda not…

We hate to disappoint, but when we can finally travel more freely again, it’s looking likely that our first post-lockdown weekend away will be a British one. Not least because airports seem kinda daunting right now. We’re guessing none of you listed little old England as your ideal four-day jaunt… but fear not. Britain can totally hold its own against the cosmopolitan European cities we’d usually opt for – if only you know where to stay. It boasts rolling countryside, fish and chips by the sea and abundance of pasties, after all.

In fact, within just a couple of hours from London, you’ll find miles upon miles of unspoilt coastline, as well as cute and quaint villages. There’s Cornwall, Devon and the beautiful coastline of the Gower Peninsula. Or how about a trip to the New Forest? Further afield – and more tempting in the autumn – are our beautiful cities. There’s Bath for the thermal spa or Brighton for the independent shops and fantastic array of restaurants (most of which will offer takeaway if they’re not *properly* open). Oh, and did we mention that England has 10 National Parks? 10! How spoilt are we?

In celebration of holidays of the not-so-distant future, we’ve rounded up the best destinations for a weekend break in the UK. In this edit, you’ll find the Peak District, Cornwall, Edinburgh and The Cotswolds – to name just a few. Oh, and for each, we’ve provided a suggestion of the best Airbnb in the area, so you can stay safe and relax from an appropriate social distance. Just hurry if you like the look of any of them – because holiday rentals are booking up fast right now.
