Welcome! Lovely to chat with you. Your name is so interesting, how did you choose the name R0zeGld?
It has been my signature color for many years. Long before the iPhone lol. It has been how I express personal style, hair, car, clothes, but more than that, it signifies the expression of feminine strength. Light pink has often been stereotyped as a representation of “feminine” qualities. While gold is known for its resilience. I also think of the word “rose” as in the past tense of rise. I feel like in many ways my life (as most are” has been a series of lessons in how to overcome challenges and gain strength from pain. In that way the name also represents a journey from darkness to light.
How would you describe your sound to someone you just met?
I call it Dream Pop. I think this sound has an artistic pop sensibility. It’s definitely softer then my previous work in Jen Urban & the Box.
Artistic expression is so important to many musicians, how do you express yourself other than with your music?
I believe our creation is an expression from a higher understanding of love and connection that speaks through us. Compassion and radical acceptance are my greatest expressions of that energy. I also LOVE to dance and paint, breathe fresh air, anything that helps me connect to a deeper understanding of self, beyond the material world we accept as true.
What is something that never fails to make you feel confident?
I feel confidant when I treat myself and others with respect. I have survived addiction and eating disorders and through those struggles I have come to know self-confidence comes from with in. I can’t put it on.
You recently created an amazing EP. What was the creation process like?
Thank you. It was a great learning experience, This project was born from my journey to Producer/Artist from Artist. I set out to take on the entire project alone. Once I realized producing my own vocal tracks for this music was just not working, I teamed up with Christopher Ambrose, and the record became so much more fun. I added some amazing guest artists, and came to the conclusion, that even as a solo artist, being a part of an amazing community is so important to me. I have so much gratitude for the Brooklyn artist that worked with me on this EP.
As great as the music industry is, it can be difficult. What is something that frustrates you about the music industry?
It’s hard to accept the uneven distribution of wealth. We idolize and over pay certain artists and underpay or overlook so many equally talented ones.
