EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a first English-language trailer for action-superhero movie Major Grom And The Plague Doctor, whose characters are based on the cult Russian comic book series published by Bubble Comics.
Filmed in the Russian city of St. Petersburg, the Batman-esque story follows a police officer who confronts a mysterious masked assassin nicknamed ‘The Plague Doctor’ who is methodically killing wealthy criminals who have evaded justice.
From director Oleg Trofim (Ice) and DoP Maxim Zhukov (Sputnik), the long-in-the-works $10M-budgeted film is due to get a wide studio release in Russia next year. Bubble Studios is currently handling international sales and will be discussing the project next week during Russia’s virtual content market.
Starring are Tikhon Zhiznevskiy and Lyubov Aksenova. Bubble Studios have produced in association with Kinopoisk HD. Lead producers are Artyom Gabrelyanov, Michael Kitaev, Olga Filipuk and Roman Kotkov. The film is in post-production, having wrapped just before the coronavirus lockdown.
