New ‘Maid of Sker’ Trailer Highlights Welsh Ghost Story

Today Wales Interactive released a new trailer for their long-awaited survival horror game Maid of Sker, which we first talked about back in 2018. Originally scheduled for a Q3 2019 release, the game will now see a June 2020 release.

For those in need of a refresher, Maid of Sker is based on the true story of Elizabeth Williams, a tragic tale immortalized in Welsh folk song, “Y Ferch o’r Sker”, which is fittingly found in the trailer below. Set in 1898 around Sker House, a real British dwelling that is said to be one of the most haunted in Britain, you play as Thomas Evans, a musician who is thrust into a terrifying battle to save the woman he loves.

Maid of Sker utilizes a 3D sound-based AI system as a core survival gameplay mechanic. Hide, run, creep, trap and distract are some of the techniques you need to master to survive enemies with super hearing. As you progress, enemies become more difficult to avoid, to the point where standing still and holding your breath is the only option. Time it correctly and you’re safe. Run out of breath… and you get the point.

Maid of Sker will be released to PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch.
