This Mother’s Day is a particularly poignant one, with millions of people across the world unable to spend the day with their loved ones.
In lieu of being able to see their mothers today, people have been taking to social media to pay tribute to the ladies in their lives – and the royal family are no exception.
Prince William and Kate Middleton used their social media account to give us a glimpse into the royal family’s version of Mother’s Day, as well as pay tribute to their own mothers and mothers all over the world.
The couple wrote: “To mothers new and old and families spending today together and apart – we are thinking of you all at this difficult time. Happy Mother’s Day.”
Alongside their sweet message, the couple shared an adorable unseen snap of the Duke and Duchess giving Prince George, six, and Princess Charlotte, four, a piggyback. They also shared a photo of Prince William and brother Prince Harry with their late mother, Diana, and a snap of baby Kate with her mother, Carole Middleton.
We were also treated to a peek at the colourful handcrafted card that six-year-old Prince George made for his mother, Kate.
Royal fans took to the comments section in their droves to compliment the family, with one writing: “We need more content like this in this difficult time! thank you. sincerely yours, from Indonesian royal watcher.”
We couldn’t agree more.
A tribute was also paid to the Queen and her late mother via the royal family’s official account with a photo depicting the then Princess Elizabeth in 1951 with her mother, Queen Elizabeth.
The photo was accompanied by this message: “Mothering Sunday is a chance to thank and celebrate all mothers and caregivers, wherever they may be.
“Today may be a different and difficult day for those who would usually plan to spend time with their mothers, as we adapt to the necessary changes and disruption to our normal routine and regular patterns of life.
“But for all Mums everywhere, we are thinking of you, and wish you all a very special Mother’s Day.”
Here at GLAMOUR, we echo the sentiment.
