I tried an LED light therapy treatment to see if it *really* gives you the best glow of your life

The Treatment

The 60 minute Codage Intensive LED Facial at Sofitel London St James.

The Hype

Forget hours of applying collagen-infused face creams and daily sessions of rose quartz face rollers. In one quick blast, the LED mask resurfaces the skin to give you the ultimate glow, while stimulating collagen and evening out skin tone. LED masks are currently one of the biggest facial trends, and quite rightly. Light therapy has many fabulous benefits, even minimising wrinkles. Convinced yet?

My Review

Sofitel London St James have just launched their LED facial treatment with Codage Paris, which is definitely worth trying out. The spa at Sofitel London St James is an oasis of elegance, with books adorning the walls to resemble a library, marble columns and a large dark wood staircase leading up to the treatment rooms.

The facial began with an exfoliation of the skin before the mask took action. The LED mask has a hard surface exterior, with different settings for different skin types and needs. When it was first placed over my face for a 15 minute blast, I felt a little claustrophobic, with only a small space to breathe through the mouth, however after a few minutes it felt relaxing and I let it work its magic.

LED light therapy is a painless, non-invasive skin treatment whereby a person’s face (or in some cases other parts of the body) is exposed to an array of Red, Blue and Near-Infrared LED lights. LED light therapy uses photon energy in order to regenerate cells, reduce inflammation, heal wounds, scatter melanocyte clusters, reduce acne and increase skin rejuvenation. Blue, Red and Near-Infrared work in combination with each other (or separately).

When used regularly, LED light therapy is thought to be able to reduce breakouts, rosacea symptoms, psoriasis and other side-effects of inflammation.

After the LED mask was removed, a hydration mask was then applied for boosted moisture and a serious glow.

The Verdict

Apprehensive that I’d come out with a red face from the LED light, there was in fact no redness and my skin was extremely soft and hydrated. I highly recommended this treatment for a serious glow that will last days.
