Sorry, Instagram, TikTok is fast becoming our favourite app – and it seems we’re not alone. The app has been downloaded by over 1.5 billion users who devour its laugh-out-loud videos.

Whilst it’s best known for its hilarious comedic montages and adorable animal videos, the app is now home to many beauty ‘how-to’s’, which users are miraculously cramming into TikTok’s 15 second video limit.

And one teenager has proven that you can not only break records for views but also sales, after posting a video of using The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution directly onto her skin and documenting each stage of it clearing the acne, leading to sales of 100,000 serums (!).

Kaelyn White, a US teen TikTok’er, caused a stir of excitement after posting the video, titled How I Got My Clear Skin, showing her dripping the deep red serum directly onto her acne and gently massaging to cover her face. Kaelyn then shows an amazing before and after having used the serum … and it seems we all can’t get enough.

She recommended to her 3.5m viewers that the serum should be used for a 10 minute facial once or twice a week, saying the product does tend to sting, but that is normal with a retinol peeling solution. When using acid-based products directly onto your skin, always do a patch test first and follow the directions on the bottle.

According to the makers of the serum, ‘not only does it brighten the skin and assist with anti-aging, but the weekly peel also helps to remove dead skin and smooth your complexion.’ This skin brightening facial in a bottle ticks all the bottles being vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free and is priced at an amazing £6.30 for the 30ml bottle.

Thank you, TikTok, we’ll be back for more beauty tips ASAP.
