A-list hairdresser touts champagne blonde as the expensive-looking hair colour trend to try ahead of summer

Deciding to take the plunge and switch up your hair colour to blonde is a bold one.

However, thanks to modern colouring techniques and expert touches, you can trial a host of blonde hues, from punchy platinum and edgy dirty blonde to icy white blonde, ash blonde and even strawberry blonde.

The latest incarnation of blonde is possibly the most expensive looking (and sounding) yet. A-list hairdresser and Advocate Colourist at Josh Wood, Jason Hogan, is touting champagne blonde as the hair colour of 2020 and after marvelling at his work, we’re sold.

“Champagne is not only for celebrations,” he told us. “Make it part of your everyday life! Since the 17th century, champagne has been associated with royalty, affluence and prestige and in 1905, it became a recorded colour in English. Its soft, palest, golden hue is becoming synonymous with luxury so you should absolutely incorporate it into your hair regime.”

With the trend for better-than-natural or hyper-colour continuing throughout 2019, Jason said he found himself leaning towards the champagne palette not only to give opulent, beautiful and balanced blondes but to give clients that unacknowledged richness and naturalism icy and ash blondes lack. Want.

“With clients craving something more for spring/summer20, I have evolved this Champagne Blonde technique with three iterations to feed that desire,” he explained…

Champagne Blonde
Classic, timeless and rich, this blonde is not only beautifully balanced and shines like crazy but can complement the natural colour or dialled-up for a complete bombshell look.

Vintage Champagne Blonde
Softer yet still the epitome of opulence, this deeper version of champagne, complemented by deeper ribbons of caramel, gives a dimensional, refined blonde.

Rosé Champagne Blonde
This hue is younger, soft and sensitive to skin types, which makes this palest blush hue accessible to all. It’s especially perfect for those long balmy summer evenings, accessorised with your favourite glass of fizz.

First time blonde? Make sure to read our 10 commandments for taking care of bleached blonde hair. Don’t forget to use a great hair toner for blonde hair to stop any unwanted brassy tones from showing through, and always consider switching up your in-shower product regime to include a sulphate-free shampoo to make your colour last longer.
