‘Spiral’ First Trailer: Chris Rock & Samuel L. Jackson Star In ‘Saw’ Franchise Reimagining

“From the book of Saw” comes Spiral, a re-imagining of the horror franchise that places Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson and Max Minghella as detectives at the heart of the action.

Details on the movie have been under wraps until now, but the trailer above gives a taste of what’s to come: the police are tracking a serial killer who is targeting cops and leaves a spiral tag after each gruesome killing.

Rock originated the project, a fresh take on the Saw series that has spawned eight movies to date, most recently Jigsaw. Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg penned the screenplay and Darren Lynn Bousman, who helmed Saw two through four, is directing.

Lionsgate is releasing the pic domestically on May 15.

As you’ll see from the last clip in the trailer, Rock’s character ends up in one particularly familiar twisted scenario.
