Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have ditched us in favour of a new life in Canada but thank goodness for Kate Middleton and Prince William.
Just when we thought we couldn’t love this pair more, they put in a super stylish (and hilarious) appearance at the BAFTAs 2020.
The royal stalwarts descended on the red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall and put on quite the sartorial display; the Duchess wore a white and gold embroidered Alexander McQueen gown offset with Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery, whilst Prince William looked dapper in a suit.
Clearly impressed with the Duchess’s choice (which was recycled from a royal tour back in 2017, natch), one onlooker was keen to compliment Kate.
In a video posted on Instagram, a well-wisher can be heard shouting: “You look beautiful,” to Kate, who smiles and thanks the onlooker. Moments later, another well-wisher quickly added: “So do you Will!” to which the royal couple reacted with a raucous laughter, which gave us yet another reason to count our blessings they’ll be our King and Queen one day.
This year, BAFTA have acknowledged the often-frivolous nature of red carpet fashion and requested that guests ‘make sustainable choices on the red carpet’ as they aim for a carbon neutral ceremony and work towards a positive impact on the environment. The awards asked guests to rewear an old garment or plump for a rental piece in a nod to their sustainable initiative.
Adhering to the request, Kate graciously opted for a gown she previously stunned in at opulent state dinner in Malaysia back in 2012.
Not her first foray at the BAFTAs, tonight in fact marked the pair’s fourth consecutive appearance since their debut in 2017.
