Horror Movies Coming Out in 2020

It will be a new decade for the Horror community. New movies, remakes/reimaginations. Here are some of the films coming out in 2020. The horror community is a tight knit group. Some of my best friends/family are horror fans. The ideas sometimes of one horror film being superior to others doesn’t often make sense to me. But I digress with a new decade and a fresh start to the new year. We have some exciting horror movies coming out. Movies like, Fantasy Island, The Witches, Empty House, Beautiful Monster, Ghoul, Beyond Paranormal, Delphine, The Prey, We Wait in the Woods, A Wicked Breed, Saint Maud, The Demented, Mushi, Deathcember, Scoob and so many more. I delved into my horror research and wanted to take a look at some of the highly anticipated movies coming to get us in 2020.

What does 2020 hold for the horror community? Here are a few films coming out in 2020

Wrong Turn: The Foundation – 2020

“Friends hiking the Appalachian Trail are confronted by ‘The Foundation’, a community of people who have lived in the mountains for hundreds of years.”

Directed by Mike P. Nelson, I am excited to see what he does with this movie especially after talking with Actor, Damian Maffei of Wrong Turn: The Foundation. The script was written by the original writer, Alan B. McElroy. This is one film that the horror community seems pretty excited about.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 3 on Netflix, January 24, 2020

Praise Satan! I am excited for Season 3. It will be interesting to see what happens with Sabrina and how she will save Nick. He was last seen being possessed by the Dark Lord.

Lovecraft Country 2020

“A young African-American travels across the U.S. in the 1950’s in search of his missing father.” This show is created by Misha Green and Jordan Peele. It stars Abbey Lee, Chase Brown and Aunjanue Ellis.

Inner Ghosts -January 7

Written and directed by Paulo Leite, Inner Ghosts is about “a woman who gave up on her life as a medium receives a gift from the afterlife: a device that can perform wonderful things-at a price.”

The New Mutants – April 3, 2020

Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) wrote and directs this sci-fi film. Its about “five young mutants, just disovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.” Sounds like a piece of cake.

“Within 24 hours, three people have been murdered in London, all by the name of Ben Lyk. Scotland Yard decides to gather together all the other Ben Lyks located in London until they can figure out who’s after them and why.” Kill Ben Lyk looks good. It is directed by Erwin Marinopoulos.

Blood Hound -January 7 On Demand

“Jason R. Miller, producer of Hatchet II and Frozen brings us Blood Hound. Private investigator Abel Walker along with his cameraman, Jim, are on the hunt for a missing woman. As they unravel the mystery of her disappearance, they become caught in a sick and violent game that will end in murder.

From writer/director Jason R.Miller, and starring Ed Ackerman (Frozen, 17 Again), David Foy (Hatchet II) , Miles Dougal (Director’s Cut, Detroit Rock City), Jess Allen (Broken Glass), and Silvia Moore (Lords of Salem, Chillerama), Blood Hound premieres on DVD and Digital January 7 from High Octane Pictures.”  From what I’ve seen so far, this movie is definitely a great one and you should see it.

Color Out of Space – January 24th.

Based on one H.P. Lovecraft’s original stores. Richard Stanley returns to directing and this wild trippy film feels like just what 2020 needs Sci-fi and horror blended beautifully.

The Dinner Party 2020 written and directed by Miles Doleac (Michael Donovan Horn-writing)

Miles Doleac is an actor, writer, director, producer. Is there anything he can’t do? I don’t believe so. The Dinner Party finds Bill Sage, Jeremy London, Sherri Eakin, Alli Hart and more. Doleac’s last film, Hallowed Ground he wrote and directed. It turned out to be a one of a kind horror treasure so be on the look out for this.

So, the trailer for The Invisible Man played before The Grudge. Leigh Whannell is directing this one based on H.G. Wells’ novel. It looks like its going to be a thrill ride. A fun date movie. That’s for sure.

A Quiet Place: Part II (March 20, 2020)

The theater got really quiet during the trailer for A Quiet Place Part II. It was odd not to hear chatting and crunching on snacks. This is another trailer that played before The Grudge. The entire theater was focused on the screen for A Quiet Place Part II with the echoes of “I can’t wait” from movie-goers. It was odd to hear a theater so quiet during a trailer.

Candyman (June 12, 2020)

Candyman written by Clive Barker is being remade by Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld. Tony Todd, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Colman Domingo and Rebecca Spence will be starring in Candyman. Do Not Reply (2020)

Oh, social media. You are great and you are not so great all the time. At least in Horror movies. They bring out the insanity. You on Netflix is a great example. I started watching this and WOW! Directed by Daniel Woltosz and Walter Woltosz we see a different side of life.
