Fiona Dourif Will Play “Rat Woman” in New CBS Adaptation of “The Stand”

We’re big fans of Fiona Dourif (Curse of Chucky, Cult of Chucky) here on BD, and we’re excited to learn this week that she’ll be starring in CBS All Access’ adaptation of “The Stand.”

Speaking with Syfy, Dourif revealed that she’s playing “Rat Woman,” a new take on “Rat Man” from Stephen King‘s novel, who was played by Rick Aviles in the original miniseries.

I’m playing Rat Man… do you guys remember Rat Man? Rat Man is now Rat Woman,” Dourif told the outlet. “I read the book and watched the miniseries. I love The Stand.”

Josh Boone (who at one point was going to adapt the 1978 novel as a feature film) both co-wrote and directs the 10-episode series, which King himself contributed a new ending to.

The series will bring to life King’s vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.

“The Stand” is expected in late 2020.
