While it’s again a case where you need to take things with a heap of salt, industry insider Emre Kaya has revealed via Twitter that Sony is currently working on a new horror IP, most likely for their upcoming PlayStation 5 console.
While this isn’t exactly much to go on, keep in mind that one of their heavyweights in Hideo Kojima (with Death Stranding) has expressed interest in making a horror title (despite him being scared of horror). Then there was also that little something (*cough* Silent Hills *cough*) he was working on with Konami that didn’t pan out.
Furthering adding to all of this is God of War creator David Jaffe, who has also expressed a desire for developing a horror-based game. Given his relationship with Sony, this lends the rumour even more credence. Lastly, and the most obvious, is that horror games have been given a big boost recently with Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake (and upcoming Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake). So it’s really a no brainer that Sony is looking to capitalize.
Of course, nothing has been announced/revealed by anyone, so we might not actually have anything concrete to chew on until the PS5 actually launches later this year. But, it’s always fun to speculate.
I know I don’t normally post about gaming stuff (except Batman related things) but I have learned that Sony is currently working on a new horror IP. Interesting…#PS5 #Playstation
