A source would like People‘s readers to know—before they get too excited about any SAG reunion PDA—that Jennifer Aniston is just friends with her ex-husband Brad Pitt.
Aniston “is not dating Brad,” the source explicitly said. “They are friends and happy for each other. They want nothing but happiness for each other. She is happy to have Brad back in her life as a friend, but that’s it.” The source did not specify how Pitt feels about everything or whether he only wants Aniston back in his life as a friend. But the subtext is clear: If Pitt wants to date Aniston, good luck to him. He’ll have to convince her it’s worth taking another chance on him, because right now, she isn’t into it.
Aniston was genuinely thrilled about Pitt’s SAG win though. “Jen was happy for Brad,” the source said. “They congratulated each other, and that was it. It was an emotional night.”
Both Aniston and Pitt won SAG awards and were seen reacting to the other’s speech. Aniston told Entertainment Tonight that she deeply values having Pitt’s support—along with her other friends’. “It means everything, we all grew up together, this whole room,” Aniston said. “That’s why their performances just move me and excite me and allow me to be here. It’s fantastic. We’re part of a community together and now we get to get back to work. We’re up at 4 and we’re there for 16 hours and we rinse and repeat, and it’s a lot of work so it’s nice to have a night where you get to dress up and celebrate each other and go back to the hair and makeup truck, learn your monologues.”
She previously told the outlet, ahead of her Pitt run-in, that she thought the public’s obsession with her and Pitt reuniting, “it’s hysterical. But what else are they going to talk about?”
