If you’re looking for a way to weave a little bit of Christmas magic into your makeup – aside from extra sparkle and candy-cane eyeliner a la Katy Perry – how about turning your eyelashes into an actual Christmas tree?
Yes you heard that right. Makeup artist Kayleigh Golding tried just that, transforming her eyelashes into what resembles the branches of a glorious tree.
Golding told Allure: “I was feeling really festive and wanted to do an eye look to reflect that. Whilst I was brainstorming ideas, I was mindlessly playing with my eyelashes and staring at my recently-decorated tree.” The makeup pro then had her lightbulb moment and gathered her kit – a pair of scissors, liquid lipstick and glitter and got down to business.
Golding began with a pair Ardell Lashes Demi-Wispies that she arranged into the shape of a Christmas tree: “The hardest part was chopping up the false eyelashes and stacking them on top of one another,“ she told Allure.
The makeup artist then began decorating her ‘eye tree’ turning her lashes green with liquid lipstick and once trimmed and assembled, she sprinkled green shimmer powder over (Has Laboratories Dynasty Glam Attack Liquid Shimmer Powder) and biodegradable glitter from Glitter Palace powder. And to finish? A shimmery white liner in the corners of her eyes using a Revolution Beauty pencil.
While they may look heavy, according to Golding the lashes aren’t too annoying to wear. “Surprisingly, they didn’t actually feel too uncomfortable. They did feel a little strange though, they were tickling my brow hairs.” The makeup artist said the only negative was a treasure trail of spare lashes she kept finding: “Later, I found random chunks of lashes stuck all over me.”
