The rage that is Stephen King adaptations continues to roll on down the tracks.
This time it’s an adaptation of Stephen King’s book Firestarter that was already adapted back in 1984 by Mark L. Lester with Drew Barrymore in the lead role of Charlie, a hen King, child who has the ability to set fires using her mind.
Another version of Firestarter is now being developed by Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman with Goldsman writing the script for Blumhouse/Universal with Scott Teems. And the film finally has a director.
It’s being reported that Keith Thomas of The Vigil fame will direct the new adaptation.
For those unfamiliar with Firestarter;
“Based on King’s classic novel, the story follows a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.”
No release date is available at this point.
