We all know the story of Hansel and Gretel. Hansel and Gretel are a young brother and sister kidnapped by a cannibalistic witch living in a forest in a house constructed of cake, confectionery, candy, and many more treats. The two children escape with their lives by outwitting her.
A German fairy tale recorded by the Brothers Grimm in 1812 and retold on multiple occasions and in multiple ways, most notably Faerie Tale Theatre hosted by Shelley Duvall where Ricky Schroder played the titular Hansel and the action film where the same character was played by the Avenger’s own Jeremy Renner.
Now, thanks to Osgood Perkins (Blackcoat’s Daugther) is going to give us a new, darker tale of the iconic story.
In this version, “A long time ago in a distant fairytale countryside, a young girl leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.”
