“Santa Don’t Pass Me By” is a Christmas release by Tanille

“Santa Don’t Pass Me By” is a Christmas release by NY based artist Tanille, (aka Tanille Edwards). And if the traditional standards of the holiday song are all but lost, this is something to replace it with and keep hoping for more of the same. It’s not even exclusive to Tanille, it’s just that a Christmas song of this proportion is all but rare anymore. I mean we’re talking a mainstream hit worthy Pop song that just so happens to be about Santa on the surface and carries all the diversity of any great R&B flavored Pop song of any decade.

If I’m more or less the wrong demographic for modern Pop and Adult Contemporary, I do however meet the R&B and Soul demographic by self-declaration, so when I heard “Santa Don’t Pass Me By” it fell right down my alley and so did Tanille as a modern R&B/Pop singer and songwriter. That much I can say from the start, but the great textures and beats of the music with her angelic voice over it is something you’ll have to hear for yourself. It’s a balance between giving the artist or their work more praise or criticism and there’s nothing here to criticize.

I got lost in her voice and then had to listen many times over to get beyond the words and vocals to absorb what’s behind it to get even more out of it, as the song has layers. It takes unpeeling and it’s done by repeated listening’s, as with anything good that you can’t quite describe without just recommending. The song itself is a remarkably well written, produced and arranged Christmas themed song about a long-lost love of Tanille’s, but in the form of not wanting to miss Santa, which I found through some basic Tanille research.

“Santa Don’t Pass Me By” isn’t guitar driven, it’s keyboards, beats and bass driven with fantastic lyrics and melodies. But it’s also layered with very light textures and a message from Tanille that slices through the music in a timeless way. It’s almost as if she needs no music but it’s a very pleasant atmosphere for her voice and the subject matter. The chorus repeats without annoying and the overall tune itself is marvelous. If I could change one thing about it, the song would be twice as long but that would wrongly extend it beyond airplay standards and asking too much.

I would love to hear what the future holds for this singer/songwriter/novelist, because after hearing just one song, and it happening to be a Christmas song only goes to show hope for more on the Pop front. It’s just a good thing to be onto Tanille Edwards by way of any means, and it lefts the spirits up just knowing there’s still good musicians releasing original Christmas songs. And being dazzled by the artist in the same token is never a bad thing, I really like “Sanata Don’t Pass Me By” and I like Tanille Edwards even more.
