Nicole Scherzinger cut her signature super-long hair into a blunt bob

For as long as Nicole Scherzinger has been in the public eye, she has always had long hair. Starting all the way back at the turn of the century with Eden’s Crush, through the Pussycat Dolls years, to her stints as Neil Patrick Harris’s cohost on Best Time Ever and as a judge on shows like The Masked Singer and The X Factor: Celebrity, the singer has never been seen without glossy, usually dark-brown waves hitting somewhere between her shoulders and her waist. (OK, there was that one time in 2012 when she randomly wore a platinum-blonde pixie wig, but that doesn’t really count.) If you asked me to picture her with a short haircut, I’d actually struggle because I’ve never seen her with anything but long hair. But now we don’t have to imagine what she’d look like with a blunt bob, because that’s exactly what she debuted on Monday.

On December 2, Scherzinger attended The British Fashion Awards in London, hitting the red carpet in a sparkling, black Julien MacDonald gown featuring open shoulders and a lariat-like neckline. And those details were clearly visible because her usually long, flowing hair wasn’t obscuring them; instead her nearly black hair was cut and styled into a shining, straight bob that barely reached beyond her jawline. Parted in the middle with a piece tucked behind one ear, the look seems to be legit — no faux bob or one-night wig here.

It was just three days ago that Scherzinger was seen with super-long hair at a Pussycat Dolls reunion on the UK version of The X Factor, and she can be seen whipping it around during a medley of the group’s greatest hits.

If Scherzinger’s wholly unexpected haircut isn’t further proof that the sleek, blunt bob is the biggest hair trend of 2019, I don’t know what is. Other celebrities who’ve switched to the style include Bella Hadid, Saoirse Ronan, and Kristen Bell. And at this rate, membership in the celebrity bob club is likely to expand in 2020.
