The Weeknd is officially back, y’all! On Tuesday night, the 29-year-old R&B crooner dropped his first song since the 2018 release of My Dear Melancholy. In the single, which is titled “Heartless,” The Weeknd goes back to his old ways as he sings about sex, drugs, and fast cars. In fact, “Heartless” reminds us a lot of his 2016 Starboy album.
The Weeknd previously teased the track on Instagram with a blurry black-and-white photo, writing, “the fall starts tomorrow night.” He also posted the same photo on his Instagram Stories with a different caption that read, “Tomorrow night we start again.”
Oh, but there’s more. The Weeknd is set to drop another single called “Blinding Lights” on Nov. 29. A snippet of the song was recently featured in a German commercial for Mercedes-Benz. The tracks will all be part of The Weeknd’s upcoming album, Chapter VI, which is rumored to include a song titled “Like Selena.” I don’t know about you, but I only know of two Selenas, Selena Quintanilla and Selena Gomez, and the track seems like it might be about the latter. After all, they did date for almost a year. Guess we’ll soon find out, but until then, listen to “Heartless” above.
