Welcome to the weekly review series where we test the most recent beauty launches that land on our Beauty Editors’ desks. Each week, five women in the GLAMOUR office will put these beauty products through their paces, giving their thoughts on the most craved and raved about products.

The Product

This week’s product is the semi-permanent liquid eyeliner, Maybelline New York tattoo liner in 710 Ink Black Noir, £9.99. The eyeliner aims to be smudge-proof, sweat resistant and easy removable.

The Reviews

Lottie Winter, Beauty Editor
The thin nib of the applicator was great in terms of precision and creating a thin line. It had really great pigmentation, but the actual application of it felt quite funny to put on. It also lasted SO well; like it looked freshly applied all day. Kind of a shiny finish but came off really easily. I LOVE IT.

Kiran Meeda, Online Features Assistant
It’s a glossy medium thickness liquid that stays put and if you’ve messed up (which I did along the way), you can still correct the line and it won’t leave hideous smudge marks. The fibre tip is extremely thin so it’s definitely possible to get a buildable yet fine line. It’s a little bendy so you may need to have a steady hand to apply the liner itself. On the whole, I was left with a highly pigmented black liner that wasn’t going anywhere.

Elle Turner, Deputy Beauty Editor
The applicator was thin and easy enough to get a thin line, but more difficult to get precise point. It requires more of a steady hand. The pigmentation was really good and it was the blackest black, but has a bit of a shine to it and I usually go for matte liners. It’s long wearing but surprisingly easy to remove.

Bandi Manzi, Branded Content and Partnerships Director
I found that a little goes a long way with this eyeliner. The application was incredibly easy and fuss-free and it was quite a lightweight formula. It’s a really buildable liner that is really highly pigmented. When it comes to removing the eyeliner, it peels off with no extra black smudges or residue.

Jen Garside, Audience Growth Executive
I find the brush a little short for getting a perfectly thin line, and it picks up a lot of product, but the pigment is perfectly black, super defined and very long lasting. Getting it off took a little time and left some black filament trails on my face – if you’re not a winged liner expert and need a re-do you could be in trouble.
